GM Welfare Strategy and Development GRNSW Dr Alicia Fuller says the Greyhounds As Pets program (GAP) intends to expand into regional communities and launch more adoption programs outside of Sydney.

The GAP is the not for profit arm of GRNSW and ensures welfare and rehoming are a key focus of the organisation at all times.

Ms Fuller said “in this time of uncertainty… people have got time to adopt a greyhound”.

The lockdown period appears to have increased interest in the program resulting in “over 175 applications both to adopt and foster the greyhounds from our facilities,” she said.

“That is at least a 500 per cent increase from what we see normally,” she said.
